Programme Requirements

Students must satisfy all of the academic and other requirements of HKUST, Strathclyde and CLP in order to complete the studies under the programme. All courses taken by student at HKUST and Strathclyde will be taught in English. 
 

Academic and other requirements of HKUST

Master of Philosophy in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering 12 credits of postgraduate courses, with at least 6 credits in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering
Master of Philosophy in Civil Engineering 12 credits of approved coursework
Master of Philosophy in Computer Science and Engineering 15 credits of postgraduate courses covering at least four established research areas of the department, of which at least 8 credits must be earned at HKUST
Master of Philosophy in Electronic and Computer Engineering 15 credits of approved coursework, of which at least 9 in the area of Electronic and Computer Engineering
Master of Philosophy in Mechanical Engineering 12 credits of postgraduate courses, excluding courses from School of Business and Management and School of Humanities and Social Science, of which 9 credits must be from MECH courses

Academic and other requirements of Strathclyde

In order to qualify for the Master of Science degree from Strathclyde, there is a requirement for the students to satisfy the HKUST requirements (both coursework and project/thesis) and to pass a total of 90 credits of Strathclyde coursework (the pass mark is 50% for Master’s modules at Strathclyde) from the modules available.
 

Graduation

Upon successful completion of the thesis project and passing of all modules/courses, graduates will be awarded both a Master of Philosophy degree from the HKUST and a Master of Science degree from the University of Strathclyde.
